Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

– Matthew 28:19

Think Outside The Box

Go into all the world and preach the Gospel. God is an outside-the-box thinker! Always has been, and always will be I will be sharing with you more about our ministry, the Combat Team, and how we share Jesus.

People often ask me why karate and how that work. God said he would use the world’s foolish things to confound the wise. First, I would not do something without asking the Lord about it. When I got saved and started my relationship with the Lord. God told me that he wanted me to start a team that would go around the world using karate demonstrations to share the love of Christ.

I wasn’t sure how that was going to happen as of then, I had only been to one country, England, on vacation. I never dreamed that I would be a missionary world traveler. And I wasn’t a good public speaker either. Nevertheless, I believed in God and started on this journey.

I think our ministry is so effective because people who would not normally come to church or have the opportunity to go to church will come to see a karate demonstration. People are fascinated with martial arts. They love to see high-flying kicks, and smashing boards, and crushing concrete. Which gets the attention of the kiddos.

Starting an Evangelistic Martial Arts Demonstration Team was not my idea. I started my relationship with the Lord when I was 33 years old. God told me that he wanted me to start an evangelistic martial arts demonstration team that he would use as a platform to share the love of Christ around the world.  He said he wanted me to use my gifts and talents in martial arts to share his love. That was 22 years ago, and we have been all over the United States and in 50 countries around the world, sharing Jesus with the world. And will continue to do so until he comes back.

We speak at many churches around the world. And often, God gives me a message to deliver to those in the church about using what gifts and talents they have to minister to others and think outside the box. God has given each of us gifts and talents. Like the parable of the servants with the talents. In the bible, he talked about the money he lent the servants. But I believe that also represents gifts and talents that could be used to make money and the things we enjoy doing and are good at. Before I came to know the Lord, I was practicing martial arts. I started boxing when I was 14 years old and started Taekwondo when I was 23 years old, and have been practicing for over 40 years and have been teaching for over 30 years. I am saying that God will use what you love to do to bless and share Jesus with others. God doesn’t want us to go to church on Wednesdays and Sundays and expect people to attend. He wants us to go out and share his love with others. God said we, the individuals are the church, and we need to go outside the sanctuary and be the church to a hurting world. I can’t think of a better way to share Jesus than with your gifts and talents. If you are good with fixing cars, a mechanic, then find a person or start a mechanic ministry for widows or single women who need their cars worked on. If you are a good cook, take a person a meal or a cake, or pie and share that with a person who needs a meal or a person hurting and share what is in your hand. If you let God use you, he will. There is nothing more fulfilling than sharing the love of Jesus with others through your gifts.

Mark Twain said this, the two most important days in your life: the day you were born, and the day you find out why and God has a plan for all of us. I think Mark Twain was right, but I would add that the two most important days in our life is when you were born physically and spiritually and the day you find out why because your gifts and talents will play a big part in the days of fulfilling Gods purpose in your life.
