I’m Joshua Stowers. I’m 19, and I’m a 2nd degree black belt in tae kwon do. I’ve been training for about 5 years, and have been on the Combat Team for about 3. I enjoy Sparring and bag drills. But I also like the mental and physical workout that katas give me. I’ve been a Christian my whole life, but have been saved for the last 12 years. I am eager to discover God’s ever unfolding plan for my life.
I grew up in a Christian home, and never really knew any other way of life. When I was younger, I didn’t give salvation or grace much thought. When I heard that Jesus went to hell and fought the devil, my biggest question was whether or not He used a side kick. When I was about 7 years old, I went to the Sunday school at my church. The youth pastor there, Mr. Brian, explained what Jesus did in such a way that it revolutionized my idea of Christianity. Then I finally understood why Jesus died, and why I needed to be saved. I asked Jesus into my heart that day, and I’ve been saved ever since.
Over the years, God has taught me to see the strengths in my weaknesses. For instance, when I was 6, I was diagnosed with severe Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD), and was told it would significantly slow my learning in school, but with a lot of hard work, and a lot more prayer, I actually ended up graduating from high school two years early at the age of 16. Something I never could’ve done without God’s help.
