Confidence

The Combat Team is coming up on its 25th anniversary in 2022. People often ask me why you call your ministry the Combat Team. The Lord God gave me the name and the acronyms for each letter in Combat to help people to realize we are in a spiritual warfare: combat. The scriptures tell us we wrestle not against flesh & blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers, over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in heavenly places. God has given us the armor and weapons to overcome these dark spiritual forces. Additionally, each word in the acronym encourages us in our walk in the Lord and the spiritual warfare we will face. With that in mind, I thought I would give you a brief description of how we share each of the different words to all those we minister to around the world.

 C O M B A T

*Confidence * Obedience * Making Good Decisions * Benevolence * Attitude * Teamwork

The first word is Confidence – The definition of Confidence is:

  1. Faith or belief that one will act in a right, proper, or effective way.
  2. A relation of trust or intimacy

Confidence in knowing and having full faith in what Jesus did for us on the cross. In knowing, confessing, and believing that Jesus was crucified and died for our sins, that He took stripes on His back so we could be healed, and repenting from our sins, we know that we now can have an intimate relationship with the God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

A lot of the time when I am explaining the word “Confidence” as faith and belief in God, I like to ask the question, “Just because you can’t see something, does that make it not real?” Then I ask them if they can you see the air in the room or the air outside with their natural eye? The answer of course is no. Then I ask them how they know there is air if they cannot see it? They say because they can feel it when they breath as well as on their skin when it blows. The truth is you can feel it and that is the way we know God is real. We can feel Him and His presence even though we cannot see Him. We can also see God move in our life. I tell them to look at the tree when the wind is blowing. Even though you cannot see the air with your natural eyes, you can see the tree moving because of the air. This is an example of how God moves in our lives even though you cannot see God with your natural eyes you can see him moving and directing your life.

Notice that the definition of the word confidence also means a relation of trust or intimacy. I tell others that I have come to know that I can trust God. I confidently know He wants the best for me and has my best interest at heart because I have an intimate relationship with Him. People ask me how I have an intimate relationship with God. I give them the example of having a best friend. How do you have a best friend? You must talk, listen, and hangout with them to be your best friend. This is exactly how you have and build an intimate relationship with God. You must talk to Him like you would your best friend, tell Him how you feel, and what bothers you, and all the things that are going through your mind, emotions, and body. Just be real with Him. You must take time to listen to Him. He really wants to chat with you and tell and teach you things. We also must take time to hang out with him. Spend some quiet time with Him in prayer and worship. Learn more about him and His ways by reading the Bible and going to church.
